Local Attractions

The village of Wyck Rissington is located to the northern end of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and equidistant between Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water. In the late 1890's Wyck Rissington was the home of Gustav Holst who was the resident organist for the Parish Church. Whether the objective of a stay in the Cotswolds is to relax and enjoy the calm tranquillity of a village in the Gloucestershire countryside or explore further afield there is plenty to do.

Wyck Rissington is approximately 25 miles from the City of Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and, further afield, Bath and Bristol. A rich historical heritage is available for all to enjoy; within a 30 mile radius there are in excess of 25 sites managed by the National Trust (including Upton House and Hidcote Gardens), a similar number of sites managed by English Heritage, properties managed privately including Blenheim Palace (birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill), Warwick, Sudely and Berkeley Castles and Oxford, Gloucester, and Worcester  Cathedrals  . Further information is available on the National Trust, English Heritage and individual property websites.

If visitor’s interests that are closer to horticulture Hidcote, Highgrove Garden (subject to prior agreement and appointment), Kiftsgate Court, Mill Dene gardens, Misarden Park, Sezincote, Westbury Court gardens together with arboretums at Westonbirt and Batsford.

It is difficult to cater for all tastes in the space available and the above are purely to serve as an introduction. For all our visitors to Hope Cottage there is plenty to see and enjoy.
